When the weather turns cold, we spend more time indoors. That’s unfortunate for those of us who enjoy being outside. Additionally, the air we breathe outside is much cleaner than the air we breathe inside – five to nine times cleaner in fact.
Given that, it makes sense to consider air purifiers that will remove harmful items such as pet dander, mold, bacteria, viruses, and more. There are two ways you can go:
- Whole house air purifiers are installed into your HVAC system, filtering the air as it passes through the ducts. These purifiers have filters that can have 10 times the surface area of standard HVAC filters, thus providing significant added protection against particles. Many of these systems also employ ultraviolet technology which can provide even greater protection.
- Portable air purifiers use HEPA filtration systems to trap 99.97% of all airborne particles that are 0.3 microns or larger.
The following table compares the two alternatives.
