Backflow Valves

RPZ Services (Installation & Testing)

An RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) valve is a device used to protect the drinking water supply from contamination. RPZs are typically installed onto lawn irrigation, boilers that fire over 200,000 BTUs, fire suppression systems, and food or chemical processing equipment. Annual certification is required by state law. Contrary to popular belief, if you have an old lawn irrigation system that does not have an RPZ valve, one must be installed. There is no such thing as a “grandfathered” system.

RPZ Licensing and Certifications

Ravinia Plumbing, Sewer, Heating & Electric has the licensing and certifications to install, service, and certify all reduced pressure zone devices from 1/2″ through the most extensive industrial RPZs. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge more to test larger devices. In addition to RPZ valve and backflow testing, we perform Cross Connection Inspections as some municipalities require.

One caution: shopping for the cheapest certification may result in bait-and-switch tactics. Several dishonest companies must augment their ultra-low certification pricing by telling you a device requires repair. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
