Benefits of a Sewer Line Video Inspection

How a Sewer Line Video Inspection Works

  1. The plumber attaches a waterproof camera with LED lights to a long cable.
  2. The plumber uses the cable to push the camera into the sewer. The camera moves through the line, as the lights illuminate the line to capture the pipe’s condition.
  3. The plumber monitors what the camera is recording through a screen to identify problems such as bellies, blockages, corrosion, cracks and tree root intrusions.
  4. As this is occurring, the camera transmits its location so the plumber can pinpoint the location and depth of the problem.
  5. The inspection is also recorded for future use, if necessary.
  6. With this information, the problem can be fixed.
    a. Some problems such as intrusive tree roots can be addressed immediately through chemicals or rodding.
    b. More serious problems such as a collapse will require excavation. But because you know the exact point and depth of the location, excavation only needs to be done at that spot.
